First Day of School 2022 and Flowers

Tuesday was our first day of school at both Pocatello High School and Pocatello Community Charter School.  Here we are all ready for our first day of school:

Alexander, Mom, and Emerald

Here is just Emerald:

And just Alexander:

While we were enduring our first day back at school, Joel and Aysha were hiking in Stanley.  Joel sent this photo to me on Tuesday:

Last week Dallin had his wisdom teeth removed.  We thought he would be ready to go back to school on Tuesday, but over the weekend he developed a terrible infection on the left side.  By Monday he looked like Elephant Man.  His face was swollen all the way up to his forehead and twice as wide as normal.  He couldn't wear his glasses, his face and eye socket were so swollen.  So Dallin did not start school with us.  He started antibiotics Monday night and his face finally went back to almost normal by this morning.

So Dallin's first day of school was today, Thursday, August 25.  He and Emerald wore their matching shirts:

This summer, Emerald and Alexander planted flowers in the front flower bed and diligently watered them every day.  It was a very hot summer, and many of the flowers didn't grow very high.  Particularly the nasturtiums that Emerald planted grew very slowly.  However, one of Emerald's zinnias thrived amazingly!  It is now a big, thick plant with a big, thick, pink bloom!

Alexander's sunflowers did pretty well.  Two of them have large blooms on them now.

Here are Emerald and Alexander with the zinnia and sunflowers:
