We have already had several fun little trips so far this summer. Tiffany and I got to go on a micro-vacation in Lava Hot Springs and we just got home from spending a few days in Stanley.
Tiffany and I went out for three days and two nights of time alone. It's nice to have older and responsible teenagers! Lava Hot Springs, Idaho is a popular destination when the weather is hot and the river isn't quite so full from spring rains. The natural hot springs are always warm, but without a warm temperature, no one wants to float the river. The weather was a bit rainy and overcast, but we didn't mind at all - it kept the tourist population down and made our stay very quiet and relaxing. That was just what we wanted and that is what we got. We had such a good time - I can't wait for our next jaunt!
After we got home, we gathered up the kids and traveled up to Stanley, Idaho. Tiffany’s aunt lives up there and it was a family get-together. We stopped halfway there and had a picnic and played in a park. We played kickball, baseball, and generally ran around. The park had seven horse-swings and my kids all jumped on one for this neat picture. I got a lot of exercise here running back and forth, hither and yon!
In Stanley we stayed in a “
family cabin” and had a great time. The kids enjoyed sleeping in a “Lincoln Log House”! Each kid got their own tray of microwave french fries and other assorted junk food for dinner. The views are all outstanding and the family time with Tiffany’s relatives was great fun. We went to church at the keenest
little chapel on top of a hill that had the whole front wall as windows that had a commanding view of the Teton mountain tops.
We headed home the next day and stopped in Twin Falls for a snack and to check out the awesome canyon and bridge there. More pictures of this trip below the fold!
